District Representatives and Liaison Roles

District Representative Positions

Role:

  • Contact each school system within your district with the following information
    • Information about the Association for Learning Environments – who we are and what we do.
    • Offer/act as a resource to them.
    • Discuss website resources.
    • Share annual event information and how they can be involved (annual conference, Fall tour, etc).
    • Share information regarding annual SchoolsNEXT competition for middle schools and offer support/assistance. Encourage architects in your district to become involved.
  • Communicate with each school system's Superintendent & Board of Education Chair. President of NC Chapter will provide hard copy letter for each District Rep to use.
    • Recommend at least one contact per year for Superintendent & Board of Ed Chair.
  • Communicate with each school system's chief Facilities contact. Work to establish an on-going relationship with this person over time. President of NC Chapter will provide hard copy letter for each District Rep to use. District Rep to include personal note of introduction.
    • Recommend semi-annual contacts with Facilities contact (at least one contact by phone or face to face, not just e-mail contact).
  • Support NC Chapter by recruiting new members from your Districts.
    • Confirm if your school district contacts are members of the Association for Learning Environments.
    • Communicate the benefits and offers associated with membership.
  • Assist the Board by working sponsorship drive annually.
    • Attempt to get commitments from at least 1 platinum, 1 gold, 2 silver and 3 or more bronze sponsors.
    • Ask for Silent Auction donations to support annual scholarships (college students)/grants (NC K-12 teachers/educators).
  • Act as a voice and face for the Association for Learning Environments.
    • To your Districts.
    • To your profession.
    • To your professional organizations.
    • To affiliated or associated organizations.
    • To the vendor and sales community supporting educational facilities.
    • Consider adding the Association chapter logo and your NC Chapter position on your e-mail signature.
  • Annual Events
    • Work with Board or committee to help define annual conference and fall event.
    • Volunteer ideas and information and help facilitate follow through on those ideas.
    • Attend events and be an ambassador to your District people at each event – speak to each attendee, thank them for attending, tell them about upcoming events, encourage engagement, and be available to them for questions and as a resource.
    • Add upcoming events & dates to your e-mail signature for 3 months prior to the event.

Liaison Positions

Currently to General Contractor Community and DPI – School Planning

Role:

  • Serve as a resource to the NC Chapter Board with general information gathered from your industry or organization, as well as advice and suggestions/recommendations.
  • Serve as a reviewer for the developing Chapter events to confirm interests of your group are represented.
  • Support NC Chapter by recruiting new members from your professional organizations or affiliations.
    • Communicate the benefits and offers associated with membership.
    • Provide list of suggested members for the Board to contact.
  • Assist the Board by working sponsorship drive annually.
    • Attempt to get commitments from at least 1 platinum, 1 gold, 2 silver and multiple bronze sponsors.
    • Suggest organizations of your peers/competitors to be contacted by other members of the Board or sponsorship chairperson.
  • Act as a voice and face for the Association.
    • To your organization.
    • To your profession.
    • To your professional organizations.
    • To affiliated or associated organizations.
    • To the vendor and sales community surrounding educational facilities.
    • To other professionals doing educational facility work.
  • Annual Events.
    • Work with Board or committee to give feedback on development of annual events.
    • Volunteer ideas and information from your unique perspective and help facilitate follow through on those ideas.
    • Attend the events and be an ambassador to your contacts at the events.
    • Use your other involvements to spread news of events – post on websites, bring up in meetings, etc.

Timing and Transition of Roles

Transition of roles will occur in January of each calendar year, with new Officers and District Reps effective on January 1, and continuing until December 31 of the same year.
