The previous Evergreen Public Schools (EPS) district offices, the Administrative Services Center (ASC) occupied 78,000 square feet spread across several dilapidated portable buildings. The new EPS ASC is a part of Evergreen's $695 million bond measure approved in 2018. GBD worked collaboratively with the District to master plan, program, and test fit potential sites for the new ASC to house the District's 232 employees. The selected site shares space with the relocated Legacy High School, the 49th Street Academy, and Transitions. GBD worked with the Legacy architectural team to collectively masterplan the site to accommodate both of these shared facilities.

Learning Objectives:

Understanding Public and Private Functional Separations: By the end of the tour participants will understand the building fundamental design strategies to accommodate the safety and security measures necessary for school administrative facilities.
Access to Daylight Strategies: Tour attendees will walk through the open office areas and learn about the strategies behind the office layout configurations, furniture selections, and finish materials to maximize access to daylight for all occupants.
Right-sizing for the Future: During the tour participants will gain understanding of the programming efforts utilized to gain insight into the school districts staffing needs, and the districts strategy for creating a building that has capacity for meeting the needs of the district over the next 20 years.
Functional Design for Staff Engagement: In touring the building, attendees will see firsthand how centralized circulation can bring occupants together to facilitate planned and accidental engagement opportunities, and placement of collaboration areas is key to helping bring people together.
